Idril Celebrindal

No, my true name, ofcourse, isn't Idril Celebrindal. I'm known as Idril in Bri , the tolkien society of Copenhagen. I'm very fond of roleplaying, mostly NON-Contact.

Right at the moment I'm busy playing two charachters, both named Criel. There is nothing similiar between those two, exept the name.

In Andrast Coast ( A live Non-contact scenario based on Middle Earth in 1998 second age) I'm the lady of an elven house. It's a rather demanding role, not only becouse I've got to play wise and noble O;-)

In "HUSET" I'm playing a "red sorcerer" and I must admit, that I haven't quite figuered out what it actually is. But it's funny anyway.

I'm still going to school, wich, surely, isn't very atractive. My interests cover Astronomy, Tolkien, David Eddings, Ursula K. Le Guin, MUDs (this is a good starters one, based on the old Viking mythology), Movies ( my personal favorite is anythink by Kubrik) and live role playing.

Concerning Tolkien. I've done some research concerning elves, not becouse I'm imensly fond of them ( I think they mostly suffer from delusion of grandeur). I did thid research becouse my alais is an elvenprincess, so I thought it might be a good idea knowing at least something about the noble people.

Now you might be wondering why on earth my alias is an elf. It's not that complicated. I started being a member in this society, and you had to have a alias from Tolkiens world. They were a little short on elves, there wasn't any, so I thought about it, and decided to take Idril Celebrindal as alias. Noone knows about her anyway, so I'm rather free.

But what I've started wondering about is, why does no one ever take an alias as a Nazgl, or an Oliphount, or a Neeker-Breeker, or even a spider? I've never seen a dragon, but maybe I should prefer ir that way. I've been thinking about taking Ungoliath as my alias...

Well, about David Eddings. I'm amensly fond of his books, I simply adore them, though I must admit that they can be very similiair to each other. My preferred serie is the Malloreon, and my favorite charachter certanly is Silk. He's the type of charachter I'm missing in the Tamuli and Elenium. There is Stragen, ofcourse, but he's

Eddings has a way of describing his charchters that makes them seem rather real. I love his humour, especially the scene in Sorceress of Darshiva where Silk and Ce'Nedra discuss wether Zith is a nice little animal or a green slimy snake. It's wonderfull!

Eddings is a great writer, surely, and I've got all hid books on my bookshelf.

Ursula K. Le Guin is a quite different matter. Her books are always dark and gloomy, just the right thing if your feeling, well, alone and uncertain. I'm still rather young so reading about Ged is rather convinient. He's the sort of person I can relate to ( Not becouse I'm a wizard). There is always something you read different becouse you've got the hang of something, expirienced how something works out, and how it feels. Those small happenings can give a new dimenson to the Earthsea-trilogi.

City of Illusions is another of these "who am I?" books. I love it, though it's a long time since I read it last. I like the thought, and the ending is excelent.

I recommend Le Guin, personly I prefer Earthsea trilogy, without the sequel Tehanu. They too have a very spacial place on my boockshelf.

MUDs, MUDs, MUDs. My hobby most fryday afternoons. I'm mudding at Valheru MUD . It's a nice beginners mud based on Valhalla, the old vikind "world". I've tried some other MUD's, mostly Tolkien and David Eddings based ones, but I've not yet found THE MUD. I hope I'll find it someday. If you, by chance, should know a good starters MUD I'd be very happy If you'd drop me a line.

It's showtime! I'm a giant Kubrick fanatic, even though I've only seen Lolita and 2001. I look forward to seing his other movies, especially a clockworck orange. My favorite movie, at the moment, is 2001, it so, silent? Well, Kubrick is hard to define, but I think the word Extrodinary fits alright.

Kubrick is a little different, but that doesn't mean that I don't like normal, entertainment based movies. I love Dragonheart, Star Wars and the musicals Rocky Horror Picture and Hair, so I can be a rather "down to normal moviestyle" person, at times.

I'm not one of those persons who'd buy a video like Titanic, Braveheart or Bambi. I'd wait until they'r shown on TV. The only movies I'd keep are special ones, that I know won't come up again, or movies I'd watsh regularly. Star Wars is one of them.

LRP. Live role playing. At that point I'm rather unusual. I like to play, and I wish I'd be able to play more often, but Copenhagen is a small city (compared to other capitals). My mother created a scenario the 5th of december based on Tolkien world in s.a. It was wonderfull. I played one of the more important charchters, Criel, the lady of an elven house in Andrast. Two counts had started fighting aganst each other becouse of some land that suddentlyt had been left without a count ( his grace had died without an heir), while Mordor was raising an army in the east. Gondor neded men, Andrast was busy fighting intern. Not only blodshed was going on, but the forest in wich the elves lived was the problem. Both parts wanted the forest. And so did we. It was a NON-contact scenario and we were discussing terms with each other in my house ( misunderstood as neutral territory). Of course it turned out well ( for the elves) and the counties didn't loose that much.

And then I'm playing in "Huset". Every two months there's an Non- or Low contact scenario arangement there. The last few scenarios have been played in the same world a fantasy world with magic, elves and dwarves. I've been playing two charchters, very different. The first was the little sister of the Castle Master ( he had vanished after the first scenario where I hadn't been there, his job was to look after the castle. He didn't really do his job very well). She was called Silvana. A rather emptyheaded selfish girl, who was blinded by her own goodness. A rather strange charachter, corrupt and evil, though seeming soft and stupid on the outside. There was nothing to do, since the persons I worked with didn't show up. And I'm not one of the persons who works hard to create some roumors that my charachter has to deal with.

At the moment I'm busy playing a mage. She's the other Ciriel, and rather different from her namesister and Silvana. Her master is in coma, not able to do anything so he released her from her apreantenceship and told her to take his place until he'd return. So she did, but with her new title came a lot of mana. She's still a big child and she hasn't really had any practice with her new skills. She does have some brain though, buried somewhere in all her silly ideas is a rather intiligent determed woman, she's always there, just not showing.

Ciriel has had a hard childhood, never had any chance to play, so her behaviour is childish. She may seem a little dumb and foolish, but she knows what she wants. And mostly people are very carefull about what they say, when a skilled person is around.

Stella Nova, Cassiopeia, The Northern Crown...Kepler, Gallieo Gallilei, Kopernicusyes, you've guessed it. Astronomy. Its my interest above all else, at least those interest you can make a living with. I'm reading a lot on the topic, I've got my own telescope, but i don't use it very much, since it's almost always cloudy in Copenhagen.

My favorite astronomer is Tycho Brahe. I don't really understnad why, but he is. Maybe it's becouse he's danish ( you've got to have a little national feeling sometimes) or maybee it's becouse he discovered the things he did discover. Though I'm rather into stars and comets, planets and solar systems I don't know very much, compared to all the stuff there is on that topic.

So that was a little on me. There's a lot more to tell but it surely would get to boring in the end, I'm sure.

Thank you for visiting my page, and I hope you enyoyed the stay.
